I ate at this delightful cafe five times during my stay in Sydney. The first time I stopped just because I saw the lonely sign out on the sidewalk and I was hoping for a little breakfast. Each of the other times I walked more than a mile from my hotel specifically to experience it again.
It is run by a cheerful couple who've been doing this for 12 years. I swear you can taste the pride and craftsmanship in that food.
My first dish was a simple breakfast with smoked salmon, scrambled eggs, sourdough toast and sauteed spinach. Simple, fresh, and perfect. Next I tried the breakfast bruschetta with smashed avocado and haloumi cheese. Not something I generally think of for breakfast, but I am sold on it now. Next I tried the mouthwatering steak burger, served on some kind of pita-like bread that was a perfect fit.
They suggested I come back for dinner, and wow. I asked the owner to order for me and she brought her husband's Greek sampler platter with octopus, lamb, stuffed tomato, pita bread, dips, and more. See the pic.
It's all fresh; and precise, like something from a food magazine. I love this place. -

We called in to the cafe was still open at 3.45 after a wander around Barangaroo. The cafe was still quite busy. Which is always a good sign that things are happening.
The coffee was well crafted and tasty we also had a friand which was quite fresh and no nuked past it's life. The wharf view was quite pleasant. -

Many locals say the best coffee in Walsh Bay is at Bar Fredo ($3).
I dare say it is also the best place to drink the best coffee in Walsh Bay!
Bar Fredo is much more 'café' than it is 'bar', set on of the Walsh Bay wharves it finds itself drenched in sunlight for most of the day. The café spills out towards the water and with being on the quieter end of the wharves this creates a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. Service is always professional and friendly. Highly recommended.
